“Mom & Pop’s” Rebrand
My classmate Annika Anderson and I did a complete collaborative rebrand project for local Mankato ice cream parlor, “Mom & Pop’s”. We created an all-new brand identity, including: a logo, color palette, various patterns, typeface choices, as well as a bunch of super fun deliverables. Our idea behind the rebrand, was to showcase the idea of a vintage, home-town, ice cream parlor, within a modernistic fashion. This, was to celebrate/nod-to the different generations of families who have been going out for ice cream together throughout the decades, and will continue to do so, in the present. This all circles back to our theme, the present generation honoring the past. We drew major inspiration from the 1920’s-50’s, utilizing rubber hose animation style for our company mascot, and opting for very retro typefaces. Our patterned illustrations are done up in that same blocky, black/white cartoonish style. There is lots of bold black/white in our designs, met by very bright pops of color. This was such a fun project to collaborate on, and we even got to celebrate with some ice cream from “Mom & Pop’s” at the end!
